BIOGRAPHY

I was born on 25 November, 1968 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State (Full Name: OLAROTIMI OLAKUNLE ONAYEMI) to the Royal family of KEREGBETU to HIGH CHIEF MICHAEL OREDOLAPO ONAYEMI aka ‘JAMBOREE’ and BEATRICE ONAYEMI.

I attended LUBA NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL from 1972 to 1974 and the prestigious CHILDREN’S HOME SCHOOL, MOLETE, IBADAN from 1974 to 1979. Children’s Home School is Nigeria’s first private nursery and primary school founded in 1948 by Mrs. T. O. Ogunlesi. This is also the alma mater of The Incumbent President of Nigeria- BOLA AHMED TINUBU.

From 1979 to 1984 I did my high school education at Ijebu Land’s first Grammar School – IJEBU-ODE GRAMMAR SCHOOL where I was also the LIGHT AND BELL PREFECT.

I studied BANKING AND FINANCE at THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN, OYO – STATE, NIGERIA from 1985 to 1987 and THE POLYTECHNIC, NEKEDE, OWERRI now known as FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NEKEDE, OWERRI, IMO – STATE, NIGERIA from 1989 to 1991 where I received my HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA in FINANCE AND BANKING.

I did my Nigerian National Youth Service in BENUE STATE from 1991 to 1992 and was among the pioneer youth corps members sent to the newly created KOGI STATE in 1991. I served as Accounts and Economics teacher at AYANGBA SECONDARY SCHOOL and also as Business Methods, Accounting and Economics Lecturer at ANKPA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ANKPA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA.

In the few years after graduation I wrote articles for Snooper Magazine OWERRI edited by Mr. FELIX OFOU, current Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor.

I joined a few groups of intellectuals and students, poets and radio personalities at The University of Lagos and Ihria ENAKIMO to read my poems and plays on Eric Moore Radio, Surulere, Lagos from 1992 to 1996.

In 1996, while attending the SECOND UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON HUMAN SETTLEMENTS in Istanbul, Turkey, I applied for a job as journalist in Turkey’s only English Language Newspaper at the time, I got the job as a guest writer and went on to work with my Editor, Australian BILL SELLARS and his wife Turkish SERPIL SELLARS – while married to a Turkish citizen, AYTEN and we had our son YORUBA ÖZGÜR ONAYEMI in 1999. He’s doing well After graduation in Virginia, USA.
